| RESEARCH PROJECTS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Studies considered a priority
Based on the needs and the limitations in the region, and the objectives stated according to the local environmental issues, the research lines that are considered a priority are those leading the Research Projects Development Program (RPDV). While, in general, any project may be evaluated, those Research Projects focusing on the following topics and fields will be considered a priority:
| ¤ Species inventory |
| ¤ Ecological studies of species, populations and communities |
| ¤ Genetic studies of species, populations and communities |
| ¤ Cytogenetic studies of species, populations and communities |
| ¤ Molecular studies of species, populations and communities |
| ¤ Botany of Misiones (composition, reforestation, conservation). |
| ¤ Environmental Education |
| ¤ Limnology (physicochemical characterization, eutrophication). |
| ¤ Geology of the region |
Research Projects Presentation
The facilities at the Reserve allow conducting field work with some comfort. Research project implementation is a priority at Yacutinga Biological Station. Therefore, only projects that meet the requirements described below will be accepted:
Research Projects (RP) will be submitted by:
¤ Professionals with academic degree who are affiliated with an Institution |
¤ Professionals with academic degree who are specialists in the projects considered PI. |
¤ College or University students associated to or under the guidance of a) or b) |
¤ Naturalists or experts of special groups associated to a) or b) |
¤ It should be noted that the Biological Station does not financially support RP, either totally or partially. Therefore, all projects must have funds to fulfill all the requirements. |
¤ Projects will be presented in a Lecture of 40-50 minutes at meetings at the Yacutinga Biological Station or Lodge, in which their mission and objectives will be explained to tourists, guides an other interested staff) |
¤ People staying at the Yacutinga Biological Station are assumed to be aware of and accept the rules that govern the Reserve and of the behaviour in a Reserve. See Code of Conduct. |
¤ Besides the final report of the RP, the author/s commit to send a copy of the publications where the work is presented. |
¤ RP based on the Yacutinga Wildlife & Nature Reserve should mention it in their publications. |
¤ Researchers, executors, and all the participants of the project should have a local insurance. See “Insurance” section in useful information |
¤ Researchers, executors, and all the participants of the project should have a medical certificate that states the health condition of the visitor |
HOW TO SUBMIT A PROJECT
1° Complete the PROJECT PRESENTATION FORM and send it to:
Biological Station Coordination
Yacutinga Wildlife & Nature Reserve
conservacion@yacutinga.net |
2° You will then receive via e-mail comments on your projects from the Yacutinga Biological Station Coordinator.
3° The interested person must send:
I - A support letter from the institution with which he/she is affiliated, whenever it corresponds |
II - The RP in the following format: |
- Title
- Abstract
- Introduction
- Background
- Objectives
- Materials and Methods
- Schedule of Activities
- Facilities
- Funding
- Impact of the RP
- Expected outcomes
- Bibliography
- Appendix (CV of the authors)
|
4° The Academic Assessment Board of Yacutinga Wildlife & Nature Reserve evaluates the RP for acceptance. You will then receive via e-mail from the Yacutinga Biological Station Coordinator.
5° Presentation of all collection permits of any biological sample or any other activity requiring special authorization is a legal requirement, especially considering that we are in a Reserve. INITIATION OF FIELD WORK OF ANY RP WILL NOT BE AUTHORIZED UNTIL THE REQUIRED PERMITS, NOTIFICATIONS AND AUTHORIZATIONS ARE PRESENTED. It is necessary to take into account the time required for the approval of a project, for the organization of the schedule to use the Biological Station by the different groups and the time needed to submit the project to the Ministry of Ecology of Misiones to obtain the permits.
6° Final adjustments regarding requirements to enter the Reserve are made. |
